Where the maps come from
Borders and coastlines are built from Natural Earth, which is in the public domain. Country outlines are drawn at 1:50 million and the regions inside France, Spain, and Italy at 1:10 million. The regions of France are the old provinces, composed from present-day departments.
The Europe in 1500 map uses composed borders carried over from the Europa Atlas. Historical borders are teaching approximations, not survey data.
Item lists follow CSN's own word banks wherever CSN supplies one. The Spain list was built for this course, because CSN gives a blank Spain map without a bank.
